Music video representations
Beyonce - Single Ladies
In this music video, Beyonce reinforces a stereotypical woman (thin figure, young pretty face). Women are positively exaggerated throughout this video as they are presented as 'sexy'. However, this may make other women feel insecure and therefore dislike this music video as it may make them feel elf conscious about themselves as they may see themselves as overweight compared to the women in this video. In result of this, many people will be led to believe this video is specifically for male gaze.
Sean Kingston - Party All night
This specific music video reinforces the typical stereotype of teenagers known as party animals and constant drinkers. To the audience this could been seen as a positive and negative exaggeration of teenagers as teenagers are seen as having a good time in the video, however, people may contribute to the thought of this stereotype as they may be led to believe teenagers do 'sleep all day and party all night' although this is an extreme exaggeration.
Beyonce - Run The World
Within this music video Beyonce brings shock to the audience as she challenges the typical stereotype of women being weak compared to men and she presents herself as very dominant. This is believed to make women feel better about being a woman. To present her dominance in a powerful way she includes animals such as lions, horses and bulls which are known as some of the most powerful and intimidating in the animal kingdom. Also, she includes fire within the video which shows she (a woman) is the most powerful.
